I was amazed with the Artist mentors who were so willing to teach, and since then I've been trying to push myself to improve as much as possible.

So, as soon as I saw the Monster Challenge advertized, I didn't hesitate to sign up!

This is my Art Heroes Take Over - a simple tutorial of how I created my monster- which won the competition!

The final result is a combination of modelling, attention to detail, lighting, composition and storytelling.

I think that storytelling is the most important one, as without it, your model just doesn't bring emotion to the final piece.

Another key factor is forms, and ensuring you're really happy with these before jumping into the details, otherwise you enter a never ending loop of adjustments.

I want to thank the community for the support and Art Heroes for the opportunity to share what I do with you!

Omar Castillo was inspired to create this eerie piece by his son and the joy and possessiveness in his face when grabbing his favourite toy.
